The Barin Ski Resort by RYRA Studio architects took their inspiration from igloos, and the topographic layers represent the ice blocks. Interior architecture has always been an interesting platform to perform creative and unique designs. In the fall 2008 we started designing interior of Barin Resort at the same time we were working on the exterior of the project. This purpose of the project is to show new ideas that help in modifying the relation between architecture and nature without blindly repeating vernacular models or copying imported historical styles.

Every room of the resort conveys a sense of glacial design: the walls and custom furniture merge in a contemporary interior design. The purpose of this project is to present the balance between architecture and nature. Natural forces here were Snow-covered landscapes as the characteristic feature of the region and the fluid lines of mountain embracing the building. The white color responds to the snow-covered landscape; the fluid lines to the nearby mountains. Barin Ski Resort, a project created by RYRA Studio in Tehran, Iran, is one such example of experiment the potential of interior architectural surfaces.
Barin Ski Resort by RYRA Studio is located in the heart of mountain just about 1 kilometer from the Shemshak ski resort, the second largest ski area in Iran after Dizin and about 55 minutes drive from Tehran. Here, nature is so impressive that we decided to take this as a demonstration project which investigates the interface between nature and architecture. It aims to reach that the logic product of any architectural design process should be free and flexible formation responding to the surrounding forces. The inspiration came from the snow-covered landscape of the surroundings and the fluid lines of the mountains. Every room of the resort conveys a sense of glacial design: the walls and custom furniture merge in a contemporary interior design. The dome-like structure of each room creates a stunning impression, while the layered walls remind skiers of the joy and fun waiting for them outside.
