Loop lamp by Timo Niskanen: Stylish and Fantastic Concept

Timo Niskanen studied industrial design at the Aalto University School of Art and Design and is currently working as freelance designer, being especially interested in design related to everyday life. Loop lamp by Timo Niskanen designed to endure through time through its pure design language intended to counter constantly changing fashions and trends, as well the use of LEDs as a light source. Timo Niskanen from Finland shows us these two lamps of his own creation.

The designer of this prototype summarizes the principles of his works as follows: “A good designer creates an experience out of something simple and functional.” Loop lamp by Timo Niskanen prototype is manufactured by bending a machined piece of solid surface material around a mold. Shame it is only a prototype for now as I’d snap this up given half the chance. It surrounded with complicated and unnecessary things. A good designer creates an experience out of something simple and functional. An experience that is meaningful. A LED solution with minimal design, characterized by a circular structure, a light cycle created with a clean and simple style, pure design that can last over time, crossing and contrasting fashions and trends.

The Loop lamp is very minimalist and stylish and it’s instead a little eccentric, but original. Although currently a prototype, the production of this lamp is surely imminent. It’s fantastic concept design. Energy-saving light bulbs are seldom products of beauty. This lamp is designed to stand the test of time by remaining classic and stately in its form. The playful lights are made of translucent silicon. The efficient loop shaped lamp strongly reflects the philosophy on design. Loop is about as minimalist as a lamp can be. Timo Niskanen has designed a workstation lamp for the public space, which, therefore, encourages people to turn off the lamp when they leave their desk.
