Spacious Desk of Cutline Furniture by Smooth Plane
- Wednesday, October 24th 2012.
Designed by Alessandro Busana, the collection known as Cutline is the first featured product line by the new Italian furniture brand known as Smooth Plane. Building upon the juxtaposition of slopped, asymmetrical linework and rigid angles, the CUTLINE assortment exposes its interior shelf space by using explicitly sharp corners and cuts to augment a level of rawness to the collection. The Cutline Collection includes a table, coffee table, high storage, medium storage, and low storage. Keeping in mind the natural essence of the wooden materials used for the production, Cutline Furniture by Smooth Plane curated a mysterious and elaborate, yet overtly usable, array of furniture pieces that embody art and design capacity with each fluid piece.
Smooth Plane is a young brand, created to give wood a new identity in the home through objects characterized by a strong aesthetic personality, rich in new functional content, and always shaped by skilled hands of craftsmen giving real added value to each individual object. In nature, wood presents itself through a dress, the bark, which contains the true essence of the material Cutline Furniture by Smooth Plane serves as an effective and spacious desk. On one side, its visible niche offers two levels.
Cutline Furniture by Smooth Plane has what was described as a “binary concealment.” One side has two levels, while the other side includes a large lateral drawer that features pressure opening and hydraulic closing. This is the simple but essential point from which the designer alessandro busana and his team started for developed the cutline project, a line of furniture that defines a dynamism of a precise action, a radical cut, an explicit gesture made to reveal what lies beneath, what lies inside, a cut creating functionality in each object and, at the same time, giving rise to an aesthetic able to evoke emotion.
