Very Naturally Fit the Surroundings Sea of Olas! Beach House by Victor Lusquinos

- Tuesday, October 30th 2012.

Spanish architect Victor Lusquiños has developed ‘Olas!‘, a beach house whose form is a striking symbol of the ocean’s waves. Ceramic tiles define the curving forms as their material properties and construction strategies allow for a durable skin able to bend to nearly any degree, creating an inhabitable interior and hard exterior. Where the Olas! Beach House by Victor Lusquiños curves do not allow for a livable space, storage components are integrated. Windowed walls expose the interior rooms that face outward towards a stunning ocean view. The levels of the house smoothly flowing into each other and reminding the rapids of the waves, very naturally fit the surroundings sea.

The facade of the dwelling resembles a protective shell, while the interior is completely open to the landscape and focus views towards the sea, with the horizontal lines of the roof elements emphasize the endless horizon. The Olas! Beach House by Victor Lusquiños restrooms are the only elements that are not exposed, stacked vertically within an enclosed nucleus to optimize the flow of pipes. From the back, the smooth white curvature of the structure gives the exterior the appearance of a shell; appropriate for its location on the shore-front. The house accommodates many rooms and much space inside. Olas! Beach house invites its inhabitants to take part of their surroundings.

The Olas! Beach House by Victor Lusquiños foundation of the building is a connection of flowing lines which resemble overlapping waves and divide the home into three floors. A longitudinally placed pool in the front visually meshes together with the expansive body of water. Along with the modern minimalist furniture, the interior features a large Joan Miro Mural on the second story which mirrors and interprets the ocean it faces. The curving forms of the main construction became possible due to the using the ceramic tiles as a material.
